Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen. Tonight I bring to your attention, the newest and most interesting piece from Chop Zuey Couture. What is it you may ask? Well grab a snack and a drink, get comfortable and follow me on a journey of knowledge and discovery.
For centuries, many cultures have honored the sacrifice or the hunt of an animal by using their bodies in ritual or for clothing, weapons and the like. The Native Americans are the most famous for this practice, even praying over the animal they have killed and thanking it for its sacrifice so that they may eat and live. The tribes of the Midwestern Plains and Western regions such as the Lakota, the Apache, the Navajo, they hunted some big game. The biggest of this was the buffalo. The buffalo provided meat, hide, fur, and bone for the homes, tools, people, and it was considered a sacred animal. The most sacred was the White Buffalo or in the language of the Lakota: Tatanka Ska.
Why was Tatanka Ska or the White Buffalo sacred you ask? Well the White Buffalo was especially sacred because the birth of the white buffalo was seen as a sign from above that their prayers were being heard and that the promises of the prophecy are being fulfilled. Now you are probably wondering two things: 1) What are the promises of the prophecy and 2) Was the Buffalo sacred or was it just the White Buffalo? Well the answer to the first question would be too long to answer in my lil ol blog but the second one is simple: The buffalo was respected as a symbol of the divine because the buffalo was a "banquet" for the people. The creature gave up its own flesh and life to feed them. This made the buffalo a great importance to the people, and because of this reason a buffalo symbol or buffalo skull is present in all sacred Lakota rituals. Now for more information, I will post the links to the articles I got my information from and my dear readers, if you are interested, you can explore and learn more on your own.
So, in honor of the Native Americans, Ms Belle decided to design this gorgeous Advant Garde piece and name it Tatanka Ska. The skull is bedecked with jewels, rings and gossamer. Horns and eyes as black as ebony, this mask or headdress is fit for the runway or even the dancing circle.
It is texture change so one can change the colors of the skull, the gossamer, the rings, and the jewels to match that outfit or the dancing dress for the fancy dance at the Pow-Wow. This is sure to make a stunning statement piece in any fashion show as well. I believe that Ms Belle has truly outdone herself once more and brought us something truly remarkable. So I give a nod of respect to the creative genius behind this and thank her for honoring the First Nations in such a beautiful way.
Alright Lovelies, time for you to scoot on over to the Tlalli the Fair Around the World-Anniversary Round Mexico II and go see this gorgeousness for yourself or wait for the release in the main store, should it be released there.
